There are seven Anoka County Commissioners who represent the fourth largest county in the state. Commissioners address citizen concerns and oversee federal and state requirements to ensure county operations and services run smoothly. District 7 includes Fridley, Columbia Heights, and Hilltop.

Vote Mandy on November 8th, 2022!

Mandy was elected as the Anoka County Commissioner in District 7 in 2018. She is asking for your vote on November 8th

She brings her community service experience to her role as your Commissioner and continues to forward this important work by serving on the Human Services Committee, Metropolitan Emergency Service Board and the Anoka County Workforce Development Board.  She was appointed to the Mental Health State Advisory Council by Governor Walz in 2021.

Mandy was elected as the Anoka County Commissioner in 2018 and is asking for your vote this November 8th, for District 7.

Mandy is known for contributing to her community and has worked with a variety of local non-profits. She has helped to raise significant funds for mental health and addiction services, educational services, Springbrook Nature Center, SACA Food Shelf, Alexandra House and the arts. 

She brings her community service experience to her role as your Commissioner and continues to forward this important work by serving on the Human Services Committee, Metropolitan Emergency Service Board and the Anoka County Workforce Development Board.  She was appointed to the Mental Health State Advisory Council by Governor Walz in 2021.

As your Commissioner, Mandy has built strong relationships with Anoka County staff, state, city, non-profit and community leaders to ensure the unique needs of District 7, the most diverse district in Anoka County, are being met. Some initiatives she has worked on:

  • Brought free monthly visits by our Law Librarian to help residents with Family Law, Criminal Expungement and Housing Issues to the Columbia Heights Library 
  • Brought some of the first COVID vaccine clinics to District 7 
  • Advocated for public commentary at county board meetings and virtual access to committee meetings
  • Advocated for a county wide internship program 
  • Advocated to establish a code of ethics for the board of commissioners
  • Helped to launch and participated in the first Anoka County Diversity & Inclusion Committee until 2021
  • Was the first Commissioner to decline an annual pay raise during the pandemic (this led the rest of the board to follow)
  • Held numerous Town Halls throughout the district
  • Advocate for best hiring practices for our top staff position
  • Participated in Anoka County Homeless Outreach events including field work to count our homeless for PIT (Point In Time).

  • Mercy Hospital Foundation –  Board member, Grant Review Committee member, Crystal Ball Committee member
  • Headshots for the Homeless (Stepping Stone Emergency Housing) –  volunteer
  • Fridley TRIP – Co-Founder, middle school liason, raised over $15,000, started a scholarship fund for future students
  • Fridley Police Community Advisory Group – invited member
  • Lee Carlson Center for Mental Health – Founded and co-directed “Dancing With Our Local Stars” and “Anoka County’s Got Talent” fundraiser, raising over $15,000
  • Fridley 49er Days – Event Committee, founder of the Pie Baking Contest
  • Our Young Addicts –  guest blogger, built the partnership with OYA and Allina
  • SACA Hops for Hunger –  event committee member 
  • Springbrook Nature Center Foundation – event volunteer, fundraising committee
  • The Minnesota Orchestra – guest blogger
  • nMotion Center for the Performing Arts –  volunteer
